What does a bocce court cost?

Thinking you might want a bocce court? Those who build them say costs vary considerably depending on the size of the court, desired brickwork, landscaping and other environmental factors. The prices start at $5,000 and take about two weeks to finish.

The size of the court depends on the available space, usually 8 to 12 feet wide and 60 to 91 feet long. The surface of the court should be hard-packed, almost cementlike in texture. Bocce courts are a mixture of sand, clay, fine gravel (or granite) and sometimes crushed oyster shells. And rolling the court’s surface once annually leaves the court ready for months of play, according to Elle Cabbage, one of the owners of Bocce Builders, a Louisville-based company that builds bocce courts.

?After the initial cost, you have a lifetime court with minimal upkeep and/or cost,? Cabbage said. ?Also, if you compare the court to a tennis court, swimming pool or other activity, the cost is relatively low, the ongoing upkeep is considerably minimal.?
