Dandelion Moving’s new courier service targets Front Range

A Northern Colorado company already experienced in moving cargo has launched new courier service.

The service, Dandelion Package Express is owned partly by the same team that runs Dandelion Moving and Storage Inc. of Fort Collins.

“It was the brainchild of a friend of mine,´ said Bret Lamperes, president and owner of Dandelion Moving and Storage.

The friend, Jason Benjamin, now is president of Dandelion Package Express. He left a job with UPS in Portland to get the local business off the
ground. A third partner, Mark Lake, also is part of the business, as are two additional employees.

Begun in May, Dandelion Package Express does deliveries between Fort Collins, Greeley, Loveland, Longmont and Boulder. “Hotshot,” or
last-minute deliveries are available to Denver.

“We will deliver (full-service) to Denver within a year,” Lamperes said. “So far, there’s been a high demand for hotshots.”

Dandelion Package Express’ hook is that is will deliver up to five packages for $4. The cost of hotshot deliveries are subject to the nature and urgency
of the delivery.

“And these are not introductory rates,” Lamperes said.

Depending on the nature of the delivery, it can be done either same day or overnight.

The company has a fleet of four vehicles. Drivers are outfitted in uniforms and subject to grooming standards. Additionally, all packages are scanned
and tracked by a custom software.

The courier service uses the moving and storage company’s warehouse.

“This is not a fly-by-night organization,” Lamperes said.

He would not detail how much the ownership team has invested in the business, saying simply, “It’s taken a lot of money to put it in place.”
