Taco John’s co-founder passes away

Harold Holmes, longtime Cheyenne, Wyo., resident and co-founder of Taco John’s International passed away Feb. 10 in Phoenix, Ariz.

Holmes and his wife Nona founded the Taco John’s fast-food franchise along with Jim and Marion Woodsen in 1969 in Cheyenne. Today, there are more than 400 Taco John’s locations spread through Wyoming, Colorado and 23 other states.

Prior to starting Taco John’s, Holmes also operated Holmes Equipment and Supplies, which still manufactures stainless-steel restaurant equipment. He and Nona also operated a furniture store and a business that manufactured campers and travel trailers.
