Study: Weld, Larimer counties rank high in luring investment

Weld and Larimer counties ranked second and third in the state among those receiving the greatest amount of investment in their local economies, according to a new study from New York-based financial technology company SmartAsset.

“Local investment and economic expansion are encouraging signs to citizens everywhere, because of the inherent quality-of-life improvements they signal,” said Steve Sabato, SmartAsset spokesman, adding that the study was meant to “uncover the places poised to grow.

Weld and Larimer “ranked among the top places in Colorado due to a high showing in each of the factors considered by the company including: business establishment growth, gross domestic product growth, new building permits, and municipal bond investment.

Douglas County topped the SmartAsset study, with El Paso and Phillips counties rounding out the top five. Boulder County ranked 16th in the state, and Broomfield County was 53rd.
