Regional craft brewers bring home the medals

DENVER – Year-old Verboten Brewing in Loveland won a pair of World Beer Cup medals over the weekend at the Craft Brewers Conference in Denver to help lead an impressive haul by local breweries.

The World Beer Cup is hosted every other year, and this year included nearly 5,000 beers from more than 1,400 breweries around the world. Beers were judged in 94 categories, and brewers from Boulder and Larimer counties won nine medals in all.

Verboten took silver in the Oatmeal Stout category with its Pure Imagination. That medal went along with the bronze won by the brewery’s Bourbon Barrel Aged Mountain Man in the Wood- and Barrel-Aged Strong Beer category.
