Raytheon to hire 700 in Colorado Springs

Raytheon is planning to hire as many as 700 people in Colorado Springs after winning a major contract from the U.S. Air Force.

The $700 million contract, the Denver Post reports, puts Raytheon in charge of “operational support” for the North American Aerospace Defense Command.

The contract is one that Lockheed Martin has held since 2000. That company has notified at least 270 employees in Colorado springs that they’ll be laid off as a result of losing the contract.
