Northern Colorado Economic Alliance unveils logo, marketing plan for region

LOVELAND — The Northern Colorado Economic Alliance, formed in 2015 to promote economic development in Larimer and Weld counties, on Thursday unveiled its brand, logo and marketing plan designed to increase national awareness of the region.

The NCEA hired New York-based Development Counsellors International in October to collaborate on developing the strategy to lure primary employers to cities and towns in Northern Colorado.

The marketing blueprint includes recommendations including a website — www.NorthernColorado.com — that is continuously updated, marketing collateral, a social-media strategy and a digital ambassadors program. It also includes new lead generation, business outreach and site-selection engagement techniques, plus attending trade shows and conferences based on the region’s targeted industry clusters.

The clusters include advanced manufacturing, aerospace and aviation, bioscience, energy, food and agriculture, health and wellness, information technology and creative industries.

Andy Montgomery, NCEA’s president and chief executive, said the website, brand and marketing plan were developed from a six-month process that included collaboration with and input from marketing professionals in Weld and Larimer counties.

“We believe that this collaboration, along with the impressive talent and experience at DCI, produced a product that is a premiere showcase for our region and exceptional combination of quality of life and business innovation that exists here,” Montgomery said in a prepared statement.

Scott Ehrlich, NCEA’s board chairman, said, “We look forward to building the economic foundation and quality of life we have come to cherish in Northern Colorado. This website and marketing plan will help us do that.”

Efforts to form the alliance began in late 2014. It officially was established in early 2015 and opened an opened an office in Loveland in July.

The NCEA recently took over the assets of the Northern Colorado Economic Development Corp., which was a public-private organization that primarily served Larimer County. Some of its backers broke off to form the NCEA, citing frustration when trying to move quickly on opportunities but having to wait on the public sector to sign off, with each entity looking out for its own geographical area within the region.

Current investors backing the NCEA include McWhinney Real Estate Services Inc., Woodard Inc., Hensel Phelps Construction Co., Flood and Peterson, developer Martin Lind, North Colorado Medical Center Inc., Envirotech Services Inc., Omnitrax, Synergy Resources Corp., Banner Health; First National Bank; Charlie Monfort and The Loveland Development Fund.
