Mountain States Employers Council to merge with Utah organization

DENVER — Mountain States Employers Council and Salt Lake City-based Employers Council will merge, the organizations announced recently. Financial terms of the merger were not disclosed.

The merger, which will be effective Oct. 1, will provide members of both associations with access to services in Arizona, Colorado and Utah, with five offices in Colorado Springs, Denver, Fort Collins, Scottsdale and Salt Lake City.

Both councils will continue to operate under their respective names, but they will have a combined pool of 52 attorneys and 56 human-resource consultants. MSEC has 3,750 member employers, and Employers Council has 570. The 4,320 members will make it the largest employers association in the nation, according to Mountain States.

“Our mission is, and always will be, to provide a professional, cost-effective resource for employers of all sizes in all areas of employment law, human resources, training and surveys,” said Mike Severns, Denver-based MSEC’s president and chief executive. “Combining and maximizing the strengths of both associations offers a tremendous advantage to our members and enables us to be a stronger and more knowledgeable partner as we remain committed to our local business communities.

He said that in coming months, the organization will begin to roll out new services, processes and a new website.

Attorneys and consultants will provide guidance to members on challenging employment-law topics impacting the western region, including immigration, marijuana, natural resources exploration and operations, hourly wages, the continued high-tech boom, biosciences, recreation and retirement.

The organization will conduct regional surveys with geographically specific data from Arizona, Colorado, Utah and Wyoming, including wage and benefit information.
