Kaiser announces $2.5 million physical activity fund

Kaiser Permanente has launched a new $2.5 million fund that will provide dollars to school districts to keep kids active.

The fund is part of Kaiser’s Thriving Schools campaign, which aims to make good health a part of everyday life in Colorado schools.

Thriving Schools is supported by Kaiser Permanente Community Benefit funding, and seeks to increase moderate to vigorous physical activity in schools in order to impact student achievement and health and wellness.

How dispatchable resources enable the clean energy transition

Platte River must prepare for the retirement of 431 megawatts (MW) of dispatchable, coal-fired generation by the end of the decade and address more frequent extreme weather events that can bring dark calms (periods when there is no sun or wind).

Research demonstrates the link between academic achievement and physical activity, according to a release from Kaiser.

Schools are eligible to apply for funding for the 2013-14 school year if they are located in Kaiser’s Denver-Boulder, Fort Collins, Loveland, Greeley, Colorado Springs or Pueblo service areas.

Districts must submit a proposal and application customized for their district and schools. The deadline for application is Oct. 14, 2013.
