Distinctive Homes enters third year

It’s hard to believe that we’re beginning our third year of publishing Distinctive Homes of the Boulder Valley. We launched this special publication in 2011 to provide much-needed coverage of the region’s high-end housing market, focusing on homes priced at $750,000 and higher.

Distinctive Homes is not only inserted in the pages of the Boulder County Business Report but also is distributed at real estate offices, coffee shops and other venues throughout Boulder and Broomfield counties. In addition, readers can access all of the Distinctive Homes content at www.distinctivehomesbv.com.

From March through September, the monthly Distinctive Homes will provide analysis of the local housing sector — identifying trends, sampling specific submarkets, examining home design, featuring green living and much more.

In preparation for Republic Services becoming the primary provider of residential recycling, yard trimmings, and trash, residents should now select the best cart size and service schedule for their household needs.

From the beginning, we wanted Distinctive Homes to rise far above typical advertising features found in many daily newspapers. Rather, we saw a need for quality editorial content, delivered in an objective manner.

In these pages, you’ll see some fun new features, including a Q&A with a prominent local Realtor, beginning this issue with Karen Bernardi of The Bernardi Real Estate Group at Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage.

Other features will continue, including our looks at green living, loft projects, “What You Get …”, specific neighborhoods, interior design and much more. Residential Spotlight will continue to feature a specific high-end home on the market.

Other pieces will provide snapshots of the market. This issue, for example, includes our look at the Top 10 home sales of 2012.

And then there is our coverage of market trends, as evidenced by this issue’s look at what the new year will hold for the Boulder Valley’s housing market. This issue demonstrates that there is increasing confidence in the market, tempered with a realistic assessment of the numbers. What just a couple of years ago was a buyer’s market increasingly finds sellers more in the driver’s seat.

Whatever the market entails, look to this and future issues of Distinctive Homes for the region’s best reporting of the housing sector.
