FORT COLLINS — Colorado State University will hold an official groundbreaking ceremony for its new chemistry research and biology buildings at 1:30 p.m. Thursday.

The ceremony, open to the public, will take place at the building site east of the Anatomy/Zoology building between Pitkin and Lake Streets on campus.

How dispatchable resources enable the clean energy transition

Platte River must prepare for the retirement of 431 megawatts (MW) of dispatchable, coal-fired generation by the end of the decade and address more frequent extreme weather events that can bring dark calms (periods when there is no sun or wind).

The 61,000-square-foot chemistry research building will be mostly dedicated to synthetic chemistry research.

Both buildings are slated for completion by the fall of 2017.
