2nd phase of AltaVita Centre retirement community in works

LONGMONT — Developer Don Macy is ready to proceed with the next phase of AltaVita Centre, a continuing-care retirement community in Longmont.

Macy, through his Denver-based company M2 Properties LLC, has submitted plans to the city of Longmont’s planning department to build a two-story, 67,000-square-foot assisted-living facility with 69 rooms east of its 56-apartment AltaVita Memory Care Centre at 800 S. Fordham St., which was completed in 2012.

Macy characterized the assisted-living facility as “upscale — as nice or nicer than the memory-care center.” He said his company will be releasing more details about amenities and costs in the near future.

“We’ve selected Shaw Construction Inc. of Denver as the general contractor but have not yet put the project out to bid,” Macy said. “We’ve still got a few things to work out on this project, but we hope to have those things taken care of within the month.”

Joel Seamans with Park Engineer Consultants representing M2 Properties said construction on the project could begin this summer.

When the AltaVita Centre is completed, the complex will include a range of retirement living and health-care services designed for seniors, including age-restricted independent living, assisted living, short-term rehabilitation services and skilled care.
