Turn Colorado Gives Day into a Team Effort

Bring employees together around causes they care about
Giving can be personal, but it can also bring a workplace together.
Colorado Gives Day offers businesses a simple way to engage employees around the causes and communities they care about. Whether your company already has a workplace giving program or wants an easy place to start, your team can make Colorado Gives Day its own.
Early giving opens Nov. 1, ahead of Colorado Gives Day on Dec. 8. That gives businesses more than a month to build giving into the workplace.
Start with your employees
Instead of choosing one cause for the whole company, invite employees into the conversation. Ask what matters to them. Animals? Education? Housing? The arts? Food access? Colorado’s outdoors?
On ColoradoGives.org, employees can explore thousands of Colorado nonprofits by cause or location. Each nonprofit page shares more about the organization and its work, making it easy for employees to discover something new or support a longtime favorite.
Businesses can build on that experience with a workplace campaign. Create a company giving page, share it with employees and encourage your team to support the nonprofits they choose.
Turn giving into a team challenge
A little friendly competition can make workplace giving even more engaging.
Through the Good for Business Challenge, sponsored by Gary Community Ventures, Colorado businesses that raise at least $1,000 from Nov. 1 through Dec. 8 are automatically entered for a chance to win one of 10 $1,000 prizes. Each prize goes back to the nonprofit or nonprofits supported through the winning business’s giving page.
Businesses can compete with other participating companies across Colorado while rallying their own teams around a shared goal. Set a company goal, encourage departments to participate or invite employees to share why they chose a particular cause.

Help employees make their gifts go further
Colorado Gives Day also gives employees more ways to make an impact.
More than $1 million in the Colorado Gives Day Incentive Fund helps participating nonprofits earn an additional share based on how much they raise during the campaign.
Employees who want to give throughout the year can start a new monthly donation. Colorado Gives Foundation will match the first monthly gift up to $100 while the $250,000 match fund lasts.
No matter how your business takes part, Colorado Gives Day can turn workplace giving into something your team does together while giving each employee the freedom to support what matters most to them.
