People Powered: Preparing Longmont Businesses for Economic Success
The Longmont Chamber and FNBO partner on an event to equip businesses with information critical for prosperity
The Longmont Area Chamber of Commerce is excited to announce People Powered, presented by FNBO, returns on April 24, 2024. The event promises to be an invaluable resource for businesses aiming to navigate the evolving landscape of workforce development, housing, and transportation.
In today’s rapidly changing economic climate, understanding and preparing for emerging trends is more than just advantageous— it’s essential for survival. Business owners with a keen awareness of economic trends are more strategically positioned to navigate the challenges of a dynamic economy. That’s where People Powered comes in.
People Powered was created last year in response to the ongoing Longmont Chamber Business Climate Study, which surveyed over 200 local businesses to assess the most critical issues facing our community. Results from the 2024 survey indicate a continued demand for the information presented at People Powered. The survey, which shapes the direction of the Chamber’s activities, is still accepting responses. Businesses can participate at www.longmontchamber.org/survey.
Keynote speakers, including representatives from the State Demographer’s office and FNBO, will deliver insights into the current economic landscape and future projections. Their expertise will focus workforce dynamics, housing trends, and transportation infrastructure, all of which directly impact the success and sustainability of local businesses.
“Informed businesses are empowered businesses,” says Kurt Spieler, Senior Vice President of Investment Management at FNBO. “People Powered is more than just an event; it’s an investment in the future prosperity of our community. By preparing Longmont businesses with the knowledge and resources they need to navigate economic shifts, we’re ensuring a stronger, more resilient local economy for years to come.”
When asked who would benefit the most from People Powered, Greg Totten, Economist at the State Demography Office, responded: “All businesses will benefit from this information. Changes in the workforce, particularly with trends around aging, retirements, and net migration, mean that the relationship between jobs and people is changing. These dynamics matter to businesses that serve customers in Colorado as well as those that employees in the state.”
The State Demography Office is the primary state agency for population and demographic information. Its data are used by state agencies to forecast demand for facilities and services, anticipate population growth or decline, and develop programs and community resources. The office makes the data publicly available on their website.
Registration for People Powered is now open. For more information and to register: www.longmontchamber.org/peoplepowered.
