A dairy cow at Jack’s Solar Garden in Longmont is shown here beneath elevated solar panels that are flat at 8 feet high with a lowest edge at 5'6" when fully tilted. These cows were only allowed to be in the solar array as long as the panels were above 6'6" - i.e. each visit, they are near the panels only for a few hours. Jack’s Solar Garden is an educational dual-purpose farm in Boulder County, which owner Byron Kominek uses to grow food and produce enough electricity to power 300 homes.
