Lyft adds RTD options to its app

DENVER — Lyft has partnered with the Regional Transportation District to show its app users nearby public transportation routes and schedules.

The “Nearby Transit” feature will integrate all bus and rail options directly in the Lyft app, creating a one-stop, multi-modal transportation app.

To celebrate, there will be an event at 11 a.m. on Monday, March 11, where Denver Mayor Michael Hancock will speak, as will representatives from Lyft and RTD.

The decision to integrate public transit into its app stemmed from Lyft’s 2019 economic impact report, which showed 46 percent of riders nationwide use public transit at least once a week and 23 percent of Denver riders use Lyft to get around where RTD doesn’t operate. Lyft’s decision is part of its overall goal to work to a future where car ownership is optional. RTD, meanwhile, collaborated in order to make additional first-mile and last-mile options and its public transportation as seamless as possible.
