Energy Summit to explore range of topics impacting industry

GREELEY — A full range of topics will be on the table for discussion at the annual BizWest Energy Summit, which will be 9:15 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, July 17, at the DoubleTree by Hilton at Lincoln Park in downtown Greeley.

From regulatory matters (including safety) to economic impacts of the industry to innovations in the energy industry, experts will be on deck to discuss and respond to questions.

The event is open to the public with the full agenda and tickets available here.

The opening session will feature information about the regulatory environment of the energy industry. The lead-off panel discussion will project what energy companies will face in 2018 and look at best practices to maintain a safe industry. Among the panelists will be Erick Jacobsen, senior vice president of Extraction Oil & Gas; Julie Murphy, executive director of the Colorado Oil and Gas Conservation Commission; and Sue Combs, partner at Holland & Hart LLP. Tracee Bentley, executive director of the Colorado Petroleum Council, will moderate.

Discussions immediately before and after lunch will examine the economic impact of the energy industry. The morning session, titled “In the Community,” will look at the impact of the industry on the non-profit community. A mix of industry and non-profit leaders will examine the impact.

In the afternoon, panelists will discuss the $31 billion of economic impact on the region’s economy. Kathleen Staks, executive director of the Colorado Energy Office, and Tom Parko, director of planning services for Weld County, will be joined by moderator Kathleen Sgamma, CEO of the Western Energy Alliance, to look at the numbers and impacts.

Another of the afternoon sessions will explore the impact of the industry on infrastructure and whether the roads, pipelines and providers of services to the energy industry are keeping up with the demand.

The final session of the day will examine innovations in the industry — new products, companies and strategies that are helping propel the industry. Companies such as Liberty Oil Field, SRC Energy and Halliburton will share innovations and strategies.
