Colorado seeking businesses, students for ‘Innovative Industries’ internship program
DENVER – The state of Colorado is seeking businesses in eight key industries to provide internship opportunities for students, with the state kicking in matching grants to help fund the paid training.
The Innovative Industries Internship Program was established last year through the passage of House Bill 15-1230.
The legislation provides the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment with funding for 90 internships per year for five years. Through the program, the department will distribute matching grants of up to $5,000 per intern. Individual businesses can be reimbursed for up to five interns per location. The internships must include a minimum of 130 on-the-job training hours and be completed in less than six months.

“This initiative will take important strides in strengthening our most critical industries,” Department of Labor and Employment executive director Ellen Golombek said in a prepared statement.
In addition to businesses, the state is also recruiting students interested in participating in the program.
More information about the program can be found on the Department of Labor and Employment’s website.
