How much do I need to retire?

The most common question I am asked by pre-retirees is “How much do I need?” The answer is simple: it depends! Below are some questions to help you and your advisor determine how much money you will need to retire comfortably.

1) How much income do you need now?

2) What does retirement look like for you? Do you want to travel? Are you going to be debt free?

3) How are your assets invested? How much are you adding to them each year?

4) Do you have longevity in your family?

5) How important is leaving a legacy or estate for your heirs?

6) How much will you receive in Social Security and Pensions?
