The University of Colorado-Boulder’s Facilities Operations, a division of the Department of Facilities Management, received the highest institutional honor bestowed by APPA, the association serving educational facilities professionals. The annual award is based on an analysis of leadership, strategic and operational planning, customer focus, information and analysis, development and management of human resources, process management and performance results. APPA originally was an acronym for the Association of Physical Plant Administrators of Universities and Colleges. The organization’s name was changed in 1991 to APPA: The Association of Higher Education Facilities Officers. It has a membership of more than 5,000 individuals and 1,500 learning institutions
