The Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art has hired Shannon Crothers as coordinator of youth programs. Crothers has served has an art instructor at Sinclair Community College, manager of the John Bryan Community Pottery, and most recently she was an educator for museum programs at the Dayton Art Institute, where she built and implemented programs for all ages.

BANKING, FINANCE

CBIZ and Mayer Hoffman McCann PC, a national accounting and tax provider with offices in Boulder and Denver, has promoted CPA’s Adam Allan, Todd Merchant and Tim Woods to senior manager. Also, CPA’s Daniel Maxwell and Lindsay Taylor, as well as Rachel Howard have been promoted to senior associate.

Wealth-management firm First Western Financial Inc. in Boulder has hired John Shope as executive vice president, sales and marketing, and Melissa Montgomery-Fitzsimmons as director of wealth planning.

BIOSCIENCE

University of Colorado at Boulder geological sciences professor Gifford Miller has been elected a fellow of the American Geophysical Union, an international organization made up of about 45,000 member scientists from more than 130 countries. Miller’s primary research involves studying the geological record to evaluate the range of natural climate variability as a way to understand how Earth responds to climate changes as the result of ice ages.

Boulder-based N30 Pharma has added Dr. Joseph Loscalzo to its board of directors. Loscalzo serves as Hersey professor of the theory and practice of medicine at Harvard, physician-in-chief at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, editor-in-chief of Circulation, and recently joined the senior editorial board of Harrison’s Principles of Internal Medicine. Loscalzo also will serve as chairman of N30 Pharma’s scientific advisory board.

HEALTH CARE

Longmont United Hospital has added Dr. Eva Patricia Gill to its board of directors.  Gill has been an active member of the hospital’s medical staff since June 1995. She has been chairwoman of the Department of Medicine, chief of staff and a member of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics, and Infection Control committees. She continues to serve as chairwoman of the Infection Control Committee.

Boulder-based Golden West has named Christine Morrissey associate director of housing for its independent senior apartment communities, The Towers and Flatirons Terrace. Morrissey will oversee all aspects of housing management as well as resident services, assisting to connect residents and their families to appropriate community resources.

HIGH TECH

VisionTEK, a Broomfield-based provider of mobile data-software solutions, has added Chris Marchetti to the company’s sales team. Marchetti will serve as regional sales manager for the company’s central division.

Longmont-based data-storage firm COPAN Systems Inc. has promoted Will Laton to president of the company’s federal division and named longtime government information technology executive and consultant Jim Flyzik as a special adviser to the company.

Charlene Murphy, executive vice president of sales and marketing for Rebit Inc., a Longmont-based data-storage company, has been named a 2009 Channel Chief by the Everything Channel’s CRN.

Accera Inc., a Broomfield-based biotechnology company, has added Thomas Werner to its board of directors. Since 2001, Werner has been a managing director and senior vice president of GlaxoSmithKline and has served as CEO of the GSK Foundation until earlier this year. He is a member of the board of trustees of the Paul Ehrlich Association and the Robert Koch Foundation.

APconnections, a Lafayette-based Internet technology company, has hired industry veteran Joe D’Esopo as vice president of business development. D’Esopo will be responsible for penetrating and managing new corporate markets as well as assisting with current corporate customers.

Faegre & Benson LLP, a firm with offices in Boulder and Denver, has hired Jacqueline T. Harlow as an associate in the intellectual property practice in Denver.

REAL ESTATE

John Hoeffler is returning as a real estate sales agent with Wright Kingdom Real Estate in Boulder.

OTHER

Martyn Church of Professional Snow Removal in Boulder has passed the CSP exam to become the first certified snow professional in Boulder County. There are only five other people with CSP certification in the Colorado. He studied for and passed a six-hour exam covering business, legal, subcontractor, snow science, snow mechanics, and human resources, and is committed to raising the standards of the snow removal industry.
