The $135 million campus includes the 477,000-square-foot medical center on a 77-acre campus that also includes the 200,000-sqare-foot Kaiser Permanente Rock Creek Medical Center and two medical office buildings.
The hospital saw almost 50,000 inpatient admissions in 2009 and about 96,000 outpatient visits. There were more than 36,000 emergency-room visits that year. The hospital also delivered about 2,000 babies that year.
Coming soon is the new Azura Living center – a 54,000-square-foot facility featuring 72 private suites for patients who need short-term transitional rehabilitation services. The Azura Living facility is expected to employ more than 100 people when it opens next in spring 2012.
The hospital’s rooms are all private rooms, and include closed-captioned televisions, room service, local artwork, carpeted hallways and alternative medicine such as acupuncture and aromatherapy. There’s a walking path and a garden outside.
Exempla Good Samaritan in Lafayette also is affiliated with Exempla Saint Joseph Hospital in Denver and the Exempla Lutheran Medical Center in Wheat Ridge through the Exempla Healthcare system.
In 2006, Exempla Good Samaritan received a national award for service. It also was the first hospital to be given the “baby friendly” designation – also in 2006 – by the United Nations Children’s Fund, or UNICEF, and the World Health Organization for its commitment to promote breastfeeding with all new mothers.
Parent company Exempla Healthcare helped author the Colorado Hospital Report Card Act, passed by the Colorado General Assembly, which requires hospitals across the state to report data related to the quality of health care they offer.
