Visit Longmont disburses grants to promote tourism

LONGMONT – Visit Longmont has selected nine organizations that will receive grants for the purpose of defraying marketing costs for events that bring visitors to Longmont.

The grant funds totaled $25,000, according to a release from Visit Longmont.

Applicants and events receiving funding for 2014 are:

Boulder County Fair: Livestock Show and Rodeo

Bicycle Longmont: G’Knight Ride

InterCambio de Comunidades: Culture Jam

Longmont Council for the Arts: Longmont Studio Tour

Longmont Downtown Development Authority: Festival on Main

Lefthand Brewing Co.: Leftapalooza

American Diabetes Association: Tour de Cure

ColoRODans: Rod Festival

Longmont Museum: Planes, Trains and Automobiles Exhibit

The tourism grant program was established in 2008 after the inception of Visit Longmont, following the passage of the lodgers’ tax. Guidelines require that events seeking grant money should attract patrons from outside a 30-mile radius of Longmont and that the events should reflect a “significant” impact on tourism spending in Longmont.

Applications for the 2015 Tourism Grant will be available in December from Visit Longmont.
