Dial away: Calling area expands
Effective Thursday, the local calling areas for most Northern Colorado communities will expand, eliminating long distance charges between many neighboring localities.
The expanded calling area will affect the communities of Berthoud, Fort Collins, Johnstown/Miliken, Mead, Harmony, Nunn, Eaton/Ault, Gilcrest, La Salle, Platteville, Wellington, Estes Park, Greeley, Evans, Kersey, Loveland and Windsor.
A judge has approved the expansion agreement with Qwest Communications International Inc. in February.
The new agreement provides that residential customers will incur no additional monthly charges except nominal increases for those who choose non-published or non-listed numbers. And commercial users will incur a monthly increase of 17 cents for a basic business line.
