Rome named Colorado’s securities commissioner

DENVER – Gerald Rome has been named commissioner of the Colorado Division of Securities, according to a statement released Tuesday by the Department of Regulatory Agencies.

Rome has served as deputy securities commissioner since 2004 and has served as acting securities commissioner since January, when former banking and securities commissioner Fred Joseph stepped down.

“(Rome)’s extensive experience makes him the ideal candidate for the securities commissioner position, which is responsible for enforcing the securities, commodities and other designated laws, and protecting the investing public,´ said Barbara Kelley, executive director of the Department of Regulatory Agencies in a statement.

While serving as deputy commissioner, Rome directed the division’s enforcement, licensing and examination activities, according to the release.

Rome’s appointment will become official June 2.
