CSU Engines Lab may expand

FORT COLLINS – A proposed expansion to CSU’s Engines and Energy Conversion Laboratory will be discussed at a neighborhood meeting at 7 p.m. tonight.

The project consists of the addition of a four-story building containing 64,430 square feet. The space would be used for labs, offices and support space, and combined with the building’s existing square footage, would result in the Engines Lab reaching 90,521 square feet.

The expansion’s estimated cost is $17 million. The Downtown Development Authority approved last year $227,000 for facade improvements to the building, originally constructed in 1935.

The Engines Lab is located at 430 N. College Ave., with the proposed construction site affecting both College Avenue and the Cache la Poudre. The Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad forms the southeast boundary of the site.

The neighborhood meeting will take place in Eagle Room Three at the City of Fort Collins Northside Aztlan Center at 112 E. Willow St.
