The art of networking

The thing about networking is that it works best when you hardly realize you are actually doing it.
“Lynn” read an article in the local paper about a new business opening in our region. She connected with the business owner’s mission and vision so she dropped him an email wishing him success in his new endeavor.

The business owner was so appreciative of Lynn’s note that he offered her a job! Lynn had been out of work for over a year when this little twist of happy fate happened.
Lynn was not looking for a favor. She simply took the time to respond to an article. She sent out a little bit of good karma. And it all came back to her ten-fold.
Are you networking to find a job? Or are you simply building relationships and creating positive interactions with others? The path of least resistance is the one without the agenda. Lose the agenda. Just be nice.
