Registration deadline nearing for Green Summit workshop

Greening Your Existing Building: A Nuts-and-Bolts Workshop will be held Friday, April 25 at the Hilton Fort Collins, 425 W. Prospect Road. The full-day workshop will feature local experts addressing a variety of topics to assist you with getting your building in environmentally friendly shape. Learn how to save energy and water, improve your site and landscape, upgrade your indoor environmental quality, green up your cleaning, manage materials and resources and improve your process and organization through case studies of existing facilities.

The day begins at 7:30 a.m. and is sponsored by Colorado State University, City of Fort Collins, Seven Generations, Northern Colorado Branch of the United States Green Building Council and Platte River Power Authority. Cost to attend the Friday workshop is $49.

A Green Building Tour in and around Fort Collins will take place the following day, Saturday, April 26. This is your chance to see the implementation of the ideas presented at the Greening Your Existing Business workshop sessions. Cost is $25 for either a commercial building tour or a home tour.

The commercial tour will consist of Kinard Junior High School, The Burr Oak Design Center and the City of Fort Collins Police Services Facility. The residential tour will consist of three near-net-zero homes. Both tours begin with a light breakfast at the Hilton Fort Collins where participants will be shuttled to the various sites. The shuttles will return to the Hilton by noon.
