If you could give your younger self one piece of advice, what would that be?

I would advise myself to invest time and energy in ideas, values, and work that will still matter a hundred years from now. The chance to shape the future belongs to those who are willing to step up and lead… start with the first step.

Who do you count as your greatest mentor(s) that have helped you succeed in your personal and professional life?

I have been fortunate to share time with many remarkable individuals who have quietly shaped the person I am today. I try to learn from everyone I encounter, and I am grateful for each lesson, no matter how small. I am especially thankful to my father, Roy, who taught me to think beyond the present, to draw from the past and use its lessons to guide the future. And to my mother, Luann, who taught me the value of patience, not only in working with others, but also in pursuit of my own aspirations.

Where do you see yourself and what will you be doing with your life after 40?

As I enter my 40s and look ahead, I’m excited to continue shaping the communities where I live and work. Every day, I have the privilege of collaborating with a dedicated team that shares a commitment to serving our residents and local businesses. Public service has always been central to who I am, and I look forward to continuing my work in local government, being a mentor for aspiring public employees, and expanding my contributions through community volunteer service. At home, my two daughters are beginning to take on new challenges and make their own paths in life, and I am grateful that I can support and encourage them as they grow. None of this would be possible without my supportive and wonderful wife, Amy, with whom I look forward to sharing many more years and adventures.
