Foundry Group’s Levine to keynote Rockies Venture Club summit

DENVER — Seth Levine, managing director of the Boulder-based Foundry Group, will be the keynote speaker at the Rockies Venture Club’s 2016 Angel Capital Summit set for March 14-15 in Sturm Hall at the University of Denver.

Levine will discuss his involvement with FG Angels, one of the first angel syndicates on Angel List.

During the course of the syndicate, FG Angels made 42 investments, brought in 410 separate investors and averaged $316,000 per deal leading to a total investment of $16.6 million.

The summit will include three panel discussions.

One will focus on platforms angels and angel groups are using, such as Gust, Proseeder, Venture 360, SeedInvest, CircleUp and Angel List.

A second panel will explore how angel groups are getting more sophisticated in creating syndicates with other angel groups. As angel investors get more comfortable with investing outside of their immediate geographic area, angel groups are becoming more interested in sharing deal flow with each other and collaborating in order to reach desired investment rounds when one group doesn’t have enough investors in the deal to hit the target.

A third panel will feature entrepreneurs who have worked with angel groups, family offices, individuals and venture capitalists to put together syndicates to raise capital for their companies. They will also discuss the challenges of working with syndicates including due diligence, lead investor roles, lead angel group requirements, timing and the cat-herding required to get multiple groups of investors to agree on the same terms at the same time.
