Royal Gorge Bridge & Park to reopen 2 years after wildfire

CANON CITY — The Royal Gorge Bridge & Park is opening for its first full season since a 2013 wildfire destroyed 90 percent of its structures.

The Canon City Daily Record reports that the park will showcase new rides and attractions during a Grand Reopening Friday, which will run through the weekend. The park reopened in August 2014.

The Royal Gorge Fire started June 11, 2013 and burned more than 3,000 acres. It also destroyed 48 of the park’s 52 buildings, but left the bridge nearly unscathed.
