Time running out for Colorado’s utility ratepayer watchdog
The Colorado Office of Consumer Counsel, the state agency that fights for homeowners, farmers and small businesses in electric, gas and telephone rate cases, will expire July 1 unless it’s reauthorized by the state Legislature.
A month left in the four-month legislative session, a bill that would do that hasn’t been filed, the Denver Post reports.
From 2008 to 2013, the office pared back $23 million from telephone company requests and $220 million in electricity cases.
