Blackstone Group entity acquires Residence Inn, Homewood Suites for $40 mil plus

BOULDER – An entity tied to New York-based Blackstone Group paid more than $40 million recently to purchase a pair of extended-stay hotels in Boulder.

BRE Newton Hotels Property Owner L.P., paid $22.4 million for the Residence Inn at 3030 Center Green Dr. The entity also paid $17.92 million for the Homewood Suites at 4950 Baseline Road.

The seller in both deals was Lion Es Hotels Holdings LLC, an affiliate of New York-based real estate investment firm Clarion Partners.

Glenn Alba, managing director of Blackstone’s real estate group, is listed on paperwork filed with the Colorado Secretary of State’s office for BRE Newton.

Officials for neither Blackstone Group nor Clarion Partners or local officials for the hotels could be immediately reached Monday.

The Residence Inn, according to its website, has 128 suites.
