Derek Coffey joined Merrill Lynch in Boulder as a financial adviser. He graduated from Slippery Rock (Pa.) University with a bachelor’s degree in business.

BIOSCIENCE

Dr. Nicholas A. Saccomano was named chief scientific officer and Dr. Robert E. Winkler was named vice president for clinical research and development at Boulder-based Array BioPharma Inc. (Nasdaq: ARRY). Saccomano has 30 years of experience in pharmaceutical and biotechnology research and development, and most recently served as chief technology officer at SomaLogic, Inc. and as chief scientific officer at Bend Research Inc. Winkler has 15 years of diverse global assignments in the biotech and pharmaceutical industries including serving as vice president for global clinical development and operations at Aptalis Pharma, which was recently acquired by Forest Labs.

ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT

Cattleman Nolan Douglas Stone of Eaton and dairy farmer Britt Ruhl Dinis of Wiggins have been appointed to the Colorado Beef Council Authority’s board of directors by Gov. John Hickenlooper. The Colorado Beef Council Authority works to promote the increased consumption of Colorado beef. The board researches beef-production methods, advancements and other matters with economic impacts upon the beef industry and makes this information available to interested parties. Stone is general manager of the Kuner feedlot for JBS Five Rivers Cattle Feeding LLC. Dinis is with Empire Dairy LLC. Both appointments are for four-year terms that begin July 1.

EDUCATION

Claire Holton-Zenner succeeded Laura Koester as regional director of human resources at IBMC College, which has campuses in Longmont, Greeley, Fort Collins and Cheyenne. She has 16 years of HR experience, including her most recent post at Bridgepoint Education in Denver. She earned a bachelor of arts degree in communications from Regis University in Denver, where she graduated Summa Cum Laude, and is working toward a master’s in organizational development and leadership.

ENERGY

Rob Masinter was named chief operating officer of Boulder-based Main Street Power Co. Inc., a developer, owner and operator of distributed-generation photovoltaic solar systems. He previously led product-management, marketing and field applications engineering for Advanced Energy’s solar business unit and co-founded OpTerra Energy Group, a private-equity backed energy services company that achieved national scale through multiple acquisitions.

HIGH TECH

George Lauro was appointed to the board of directors of Longmont-based Lightwave Logic Inc. (OTCQB: LWLG), a technology company that develops next-generation photonic devices and nonlinear optical polymer materials systems for applications in high-speed fiber-optic data communications and optical computing. Lauro has 25 years of experience as a technology entrepreneur, operating executive and venture capitalist.

Endeavor co-founder and chief executive Linda Rottenberg was elected to the board of directors of Boulder-based Zayo Group LLC. Named one of “America’s Best Leaders” by U.S. News and World Report and one of Time’s “100 Innovators for the 21st Century,” Rottenberg graduated from Harvard University and Yale Law School. Her addition to Zayo’s board coincides with the resignation of current board members Tony Downer of Oak Investment Group and Lawrence Fey of GTCR.

LAW

Tiffamy Walker joined the Boulder-based law firms of S.D. Merritt & Associates P.C. and Jane Caddell Paddison P.C. as an associate. Her practice will emphasize estate planning, probate, trust, tax and small-business law.

NONPROFIT

Barbara Truan is serving as interim executive director of Boulder County CareConnect while its board seeks a replacement for Emily Ditty, who resigned effective May 22 to take a position in the Pacific Northwest after nearly a decade with BCCC, Truan has more than 20 years of experience in training and facilitation as a management consultant, executive coach, corporate manager and educational leader.

Sharon Gloss joined Fort Collins-based nonprofit Pathways Hospice as a development officer on its Donor Development team. She has more than 16 years of experience in marketing communications, events and project management. A graduate of the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire, she previously worked as Larimer County community outreach coordinator for Project Self-Sufficiency.

RETAIL

Tracy Miller joined The Light Center in Fort Collins as retail and builder sales manager. She has 18 years of retail managing and marketing experience. The store also expanded Greg Smith‘s management position to include outside sales and business development.
