State revises 4Q 2013 employment numbers

Colorado added more jobs in the fourth quarter of 2013 than previously estimated. The higher numbers include increases in job counts in Fort Collins-Loveland and Greeley, but Boulder estimates may be revised down.

Fort Collins-Loveland job numbers are expected to be revised up by about 800 jobs, and Greeley’s numbers are expected to go up by about 100 jobs, according to the Colorado Department of Labor and Employment.

The job count in Boulder could be revised down, but by what number of jobs has not yet been predicted, according to a release from the department containing the Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages, which uses recent trend information to revise older employment numbers released by the department.

The fourth-quarter 2013 Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages shows that the industry sectors likely to undergo the greatest revisions are construction, government, trade, transportation and utilities.

The sectors expected to revise downward are professional and business services, leisure and hospitality, education and health services and manufacturing.

Statewide, estimates are expected to reflect 5,700 more jobs than previously reported for the fourth quarter.
