Polar Bottle wins a place at bike race

No bike race is complete without an official water bottle.

The USA Pro Cycling Challenge has chosen Boulder-based Polar Bottle to provide the official water bottle for the multistage race through 2013.

Polar Bottle has created a variety of custom bottles for this year’s race, which takes place Aug 20-26.

The designs are inspired by each of the five leaders’ jerseys — General Classification (overall leader), Best Young Rider, Best Sprinter, King of the Mountains, Most Aggressive Rider — and a commemorative 2012 Stage Route bottle, all manufactured in Colorado.

Polar Bottle will supplement its sponsorship with a presence at each stage of the race, including Stage 6, which ends with a climb up Flagstaff Mountain overlooking Boulder.

Polar Bottle president Judy Amabile is thrilled about her company’s association with the race for the next two years.

“It’s great to have world-class stage racing back in Colorado,” she said. “Last year’s race proved that our state is the perfect venue.”
