If You Believe…

It is vital to understand that we all have deep-seated beliefs about work. These are often sub-conscious belief systems that we inherited from our parents, society, or from our own experiences. Sometimes our beliefs are out-dated and no longer serve us very well. Even when the beliefs are detrimental to our own success, we unwittingly allow them to direct and orchestrate our lives.

For instance, I seem to believe that in order to be successful, I must work HARD for my money. Hmmm. Why can’t I just as easily believe that finding success can be fun, easy, and lucrative? I used to believe that if you showed up and did a great job, you would be recognized and rewarded. Thankfully, I have come to understand that this can happen sometimes, but it is definitely not a given.

Way before you begin to polish up your resume, take some time to uncover and better understand the underlying beliefs that are sub-consciously directing your every move. What do you do with beliefs that no longer serve you? Re-frame them into affirming statements.
