Better Listening Leads to Better Decisions

Last Saturday I spent a good chunk of my day at the cell phone store. I had my mind dead-set on upgrading to the iphone4. I left with an Android phone. After having an iPhone for two years, I could not believe I had made the switch.

Here is what I learned from the experience:

  • We may not have the information necessary to make the BEST decision.
  • Slow down.
  • Be open to possibilities.
  • Listening to others is good.
  • Look at the facts.
  • Embrace change.
  • Push past the fear of the unknown.
  • Be aware of the power of marketing and don’t get swayed by slick advertising.
  • Seek the truth.
  • Trust your own inner knowing.

There is no perfect cell phone. There are no perfect work situations either. There are always trade offs and compromises. But, we can make better decisions about cell phones and even our careers when we question our assumptions and open our minds.

I am getting used to my Android phone. And, I am working on listening to my life and to the world around me. The days of having all the answers are over. My mind is not made up. I am wide open to suggestions.
