Tarzan and Jane (Goodall)

I recently watched a documentary on the life of [Jane Goodall. You can trace her fascination and interest in the animal world back to her childhood. Here are some Jane Goodall factoids that show how she listened to her life and followed her inner voice:

  • The first book she read was “Doctor Doolittle.”
  • She was completely enamored with the Tarzan and Jane series of books and read them over and over.
  • Jane Goodall was convinced that she would make a much better mate for Tarzan than the Jane depicted in the novels.

  • Jane did not have a college degree or any formal training when anthropologist Louis Leakey invited her to Africa to work with him.
  • What she did have was a willingness to learn.
  • She later earned an honorary doctorate degree from Cambridge University for her research and work with chimpanzees.

What opportunities might come your way if you but surrender to your passions without fear or reservation? Who knows? Tarzan could be calling.
