Ten Reasons to Run Screaming from the Interview
1. The interviewer keeps you waiting longer than 10 minutes.
2. The hiring team appears to be seeing your resume for the very first time just as you are sitting down to interview.
3. They seem a little fuzzy on the exact position for which you are interviewing.
4. You meet with several hiring managers in separate one-on-one interviews. It becomes quite clear there has been no preparation or communication between the various interviewers. They are winging it.
5. You are asked inappropriate, possibly illegal questions.
6. The interviewer goes on and on about the position and the company. They are not asking you the right questions and they certainly aren’t really listening to what you have to say.
7. The hiring manager puts you on the defensive by questioning your fit for the position to your face fifteen minutes into the interview.
8. No one bothers to offer you a glass of water.
9. They express no appreciation for you taking the time to interview.
10. The questions are lame. Who cares what kind of a tree you imagine yourself to be?
When this happens, run. Move on down the block to the next opportunity. Trust me. It will never work out with these folks.
