Lucky is as Lucky Does

I recently sat down to watch some pre-recorded Oprah. (Okay, I am outing myself here. I love Oprah.) This particular episode was about amazing, talented kids. The kids were kind of creepy. They looked like adults trapped in tiny bodies. It seemed unnatural.

There was one performer though that took my breath away. This 19-year-old guitar playing, singer-songwriter had gone viral on You Tube. He was invited to perform on Oprah. Oprah had found out that this kid was a huge Lenny Kravitz fan. In true Oprah style, Kravitz sauntered onstage to jam with this kid. The kid was totally blown away. But what happened next was pure Oprah magic. The kid took control of the moment and led an amazing, impromptu jam session with his musical hero. He held nothing back.

Lucky break? Sure. But a lucky break is when opportunity meets preparation. It really isn’t all that random. This kid had been preparing for years so that he would be ready when the right opportunity came his way.

Will you be prepared to seize the moment when the opportunity of a lifetime presents itself? We have to do our part. In the end, it is up to each of us to create the luck we want.
