Upstate Colorado dinner features Energy Collaboratory director

GREELEY – David Hiller, executive director of the Colorado Renewable Energy Collaboratory, will be the keynote speaker at Upstate Colorado Economic Development’s annual dinner on April 14.

The collaboratory is a consortium of four institutions – Colorado School of Mines, Colorado State University, University of Colorado at Boulder and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory in Golden – that are working together to advance alternative energy research.

“Our annual dinner will mark the significant economic development projects announced in Weld County during the past year,´ said John DeWitt, chair of Upstate’s board of directors. “While Weld County has been significantly impacted by the economic declines that have eroded significant portions of our national and international economies, the fact is that our local industrial activity still exceeds most of the nation’s. We believe that our Upstate Colorado area will continue to thrive, with a diverse industry mix that includes world-class employers within the energy, agriculture, food processing, manufacturing and business service sectors.”

Last year, Upstate’s “Opportunity Now” campaign established a 40-member Leadership Council to support 5,000 new primary jobs in Weld County during the next five years that will result in an expected $1.7 billion flowing into the county’s economy.

The annual dinner will begin with a social hour at 5:30 p.m. and dinner served at 6:30 p.m. Tickets are $45 for Upstate Investors and $55 for others. To register or for more information, call Upstate at 970-356-4565.
