Foreclosures set November record
Boulder and Broomfield counties reported 143 new foreclosure filings in November, a new record high for the month.
November foreclosure figures are up 41 percent from November 2008. Year-to-date through Nov. 30, filings have reached 1,616 – up 38 percent from the same period a year ago.
Foreclosures typically are filed after borrowers are 75 to 90 days late on their mortgage payments. Those homes haven’t necessarily been repossessed yet, but the figures are a good indication of how many households are struggling to pay their bills.
