Colorado Corn, Stewart Environmental win ACRE grants

Greeley-based Colorado Corn Growers and Fort Collins-based Stewart Environmental were among 14 businesses and groups selected to receive grants from the state’s Advancing Colorado’s Renewable Energy, or ACRE, program.

Colorado Corn was one of four grantees chosen to receive up to $100,000 each for their projects. Colorado Corn was selected for its work in assisting the development of ethanol fuel pumping infrastructure in rural Colorado.

Stewart Environmental was one of seven to receive research grants of up to $50,000 to inventory available feedstock in the state for use in anaerobic digestion for biogas production.

“The grants awarded by this project are an important step in helping our agriculture industry to be a leading participant in the new energy economy,´ said Tom Lipitzky, markets division director for the Colorado Department of Agriculture.

ACRE is administered by the Colorado Agricultural Value Added Development Board, which encourages and promotes business projects that add value to agricultural products as well as agricultural energy-related projects.
