It’s all about lazy reporting

Last night, 9News in Denver reported on the “panic” caused by flyers announcing the presence of sex offenders in Broomfield. Seems our old friends Neighborhood Red Alert had struck again. (See previous blog entry for June 14.)

Rather than call the scamsters out, the intrepid Anastasia Bolton provided cover with this astounding bit of mushy thinking:

“The man who started the Web site just over six months ago declined to go on camera with 9NEWS but released a statement that said, ‘No free service does what we do. Our service gets anybody who logs on updated every month.’

‘I’m fearful of the children that I have of falling prey to a sex offender,’ he said in his statement.

The man who runs the company asked 9NEWS not to identify him because he is afraid for his safety due to the nature of the crimes he is exposing.”

He’s afraid of pedophiles? How old is this guy, anyway?

I guess we’ll have to wait for the fall sweeps for Paula Woodward to pounce on this one.
