No detail forgotten at destination planner Forget-Me-Not-Adventures in Estes Park

ESTES PARK – Forget-Me-Not-Adventures is a travel agency that’s more like an event-planning company.
Unlike a travel agency, which arranges lodging, air fare and rental cars, Rene Moquin’s destination-planning company founded in 1995 adds the finishing touches for business conferences, seminars, family reunions, church groups and even wedding parties.

Based in Estes Park, the company often arranges charters from Denver International Airport directly to destinations, along with formal dinners, picnics in the park, fly-fishing, dude ranch experiences, spouse activities, interpretative hikes and tours in Rocky Mountain National Park.

Sometimes FMNA sets up cultural tours, mountain bike tours and wildlife viewing. It has even catered an evening of dining followed by a murder mystery created and performed especially for a group.

Moquin says the original idea was to serve as a broker to coordinate “quality experiences” for corporate groups, reunions and weddings.

“As we went along we realized that there was a special need for a service to coordinate transportation services that assured quality, timeliness and professionalism,” he says. “I think groups enjoy it when they know there is one person they can turn to assist with their destination planning rather than trying to deal with a number of vendors themselves.”

So whether guests are staying at the Stanley Hotel, the Boulder Marriott or St. Julien, the key is that one company customizes and facilitates ventures and transportation.

“Many of the groups we work with have never been to Northern Colorado,” he says. “So they’re not certain what opportunities exist or what coach or limo company to call.”

The secret to the company’s longevity is attention to detail. “We’ve committed ourselves to attending to the details and assuring flexibility,” he says. “Our expectations are high, and we are very selective in what vendors we work with.”

Moquin always attends events to ensure that coaches arrive on time, that last-minute adjustments can be handled, and that his clients have a good time.

“I’m convinced that people have almost come to expect poor service,” he says. “We want to reflect a different culture, a culture that reflects our commitment to providing the best possible service.”

The economy has not impacted business. Moquin’s company continues to grow based on word-of-mouth. Typical jobs include small corporate outings, weddings and family reunions.

As for revenues, he says, “We’re a small entity,” and “revenue generation is not our main objective. Our passion is providing hands on services to a variety of clients.”

Regardless, Moquin says the company stays busy. Winter is quieter, mostly involving service for weddings and corporate groups.

“It’s all here in Northern Colorado, all year-round. Aspen leaves in September, cross-country skiing and snow shoeing and downhill skiing in the winter, and wild flowers in high meadows in the summer.”
