Get your Daily news right here
A faithful reader and subscriber to our Business Report Daily e-mail recently asked:
Why don’t you include the news of the day directly in the e-mail instead of making me come out to your Web site to get the actual news of the day? The two-step process seems to be kind of a pain.
In addition since you only keep 5 days worth of news, if I am gone on vacation for more than 5 days I can’t get old news.
I suppose it is all about generating traffic to your Web site….
Well, yes, it is all about the Web site. But the good news of the day is that the Web site is where you can find all the Daily items from days past as well. (As an editor, I think I prefer the term “previously published” to “old news,” by the way.)
To see what you may have missed, go to our newly redesigned homepage at www.ncbr.com. At the top of the page, you will see Breaking News, which are the top three items in the Business Report Daily for that day, posted right after the e-mail is delivered to subscribers. To the right of the Breaking News is a box labeled Databank. It looks like an ad, but trust me, if you click on it, it will get you to our archives cookie-free.

The first page you come to offers “our data-rich products” — special publications that cover various industries in Northern Colorado in-depth — but you don’t have to buy anything if you don’t want, I promise. Above the listing of the products, you have a series of option buttons. To get to the Daily archive, click on Search. At the next page, click on Article search, and hang on, we’re almost there.
Under the Publication pulldown, select Business Report Daily. Under Date published, you can select the specific day you’d like to see, a whole month within any year, or an entire year’s worth of Daily items. Select Sort results by publication date to ensure items are displayed with most recent first, thusly. If you select no date, you’ll get all 4,200 — and counting — Daily news items posted since 2001.
Here’s the best part: The last month and a half of Business Report Daily items are available in full for no charge. Just locate the item you want to read, hit the …click here for more! link and there it is. Older items can be accessed, like the rest of NCBR’s editorial content, for $2 per article, by following the log-in instructions on the site.
As for there being too many steps involved, we can only hope the powers-that-be in Web Design World are reading this post, too.
