Symphony signs Kenney to new contract
The Fort Collins Symphony signed Wes Kenney to a new three-year contract to remain as its conductor and music director, symphony officials announced Thursday.
Kenney, who joined the symphony in 2003, will lead the symphony into its 58th season, which starts in September.
In addition to Kenney’s contract, the symphony announced it will kick off the next season with a performance at the Budweiser Center. The concert, scheduled Sept. 24, will feature popular singer Amy Grant.

The next season includes an expanded concert schedule. In addition to its traditional Saturday night performance schedule, the symphony will perform a Sunday Mini Series with three 2 p.m. concerts at the University Center for the Arts performance hall.
The added concerts, coupled with growth in grants and donations, will help the Fort Collins Symphony expand its budget by 25 percent next season, said Marta Farrell, the symphony’s executive director. This year’s budget is $400,000.
In another announcement Thursday, the symphony announced four new members of its board of directors, including John Busby, president of Horizon Banks of Loveland; Myra Monfort, attorney and philanthropist; Gloria Burns, attorney and professor at the Colorado State University College of Business, and Maryann Ruck, senior vice president and portfolio manager at First Western Trust Bank in Fort Collins.
