Barrie Hartman launches public relations agency

LOUISVILLE ? Longtime newspaperman Barrie Hartman has launched Barrie Hartman & Associates, a public-relations consulting firm.

The firm specializes in communications, from political campaigns to crisis control.

Hartman retired from the Daily Camera four years ago after 18 years there, 12 as editor and six as editorial-page editor.

?I?m now 70, and I?ve got too much energy,? Hartman said. ?I decided to try something new and different, something I never thought I would do.?

Hartman?s business partner in the endeavor is local writer Jeff Bradley. Associates include Willie Kneirim, retired award-winning teacher and former president of the Boulder Valley teachers? union; Bruce Henderson, a former news editor at the Daily Camera who teaches at the University of Colorado?s journalism school; Joe McGowan, retired Associated Press bureau chief for Colorado and Wyoming; designer Bob Eriksson; and Linda Cornet, ?one of my star reporters at the Camera,? Hartman said.

Hartman expects to have as many as 10 associates.

Among Hartman?s clients is Boulder-based Front Range Preventive Imaging. ?We want to help (owner Dr. Bill Blanchet) because he really wants to help people,? Hartman said.
