A.G. Edwards opens new Interlocken branch

BROOMFIELD — Following dynamic growth in the area, A.G. Edwards & Sons Inc. has opened a 10-broker branch in Interlocken business park.

“We saw a growing demand for sophisticated financial services,´ said Tom Mahoney, branch manager and vice president of investments.

Mahoney was assistant manager in the Boulder office for 15 years before opening this fall the new branch, about 4,800 square feet at 370 Interlocken Blvd.

A.G. Edwards joins Salomon Smith Barney Inc., which opened this spring in Interlocken. “We expect to see competition out here because it is a dynamic area,” Mahoney said.

He said the branch comes in response to the burgeoning market in the northern metro area, which began showing strong signs of growth several years ago. “I’ve been a Broomfield resident for 20 years — I’ve seen this area begin to grow,” he said.

The focus of the Interlocken branch will be to provide such services for both individuals and corporations; Mahoney expects the location to serve the Interlocken employer and employee communities as well as clients from Superior to Westminster. He said the employees of high-tech companies have needs A.G. Edwards is well qualified to service. The company offers services, for example, from corporate stock-option analysis to portfolio management.

Even the mid-level employee would be “a very typical client” for the branch, Mahoney said.

A.G. Edwards, founded in 1887, is one of the largest investment firms in the United States with more than 6,675 financial consultants in more than 650 offices nationwide.

Kiplinger’s Personal Finance Magazine ranked A.G. Edwards No. 1 in its survey of full-service investment firms. Wall Street powerhouse Salomon Smith Barney was ranked No. 2.
